Is anyone else excited about the Lego Skylines game announced at Gamescom? 😁

Well, if you missed it, Paradox Interactive and the LEGO Group have announced a new customisable city-builder for PC, PlayStation® 5, XBOX Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch™ 2.

Lego Skylines Game Building a Brick House - by Paradox Interactive

It all starts with a single plot and house. Then players can create increasingly large cities while managing services, infrastructure and their residents’ needs.

The developers describe it as a cosy and playful city-builder, but it seems to have more meaningful management depth than a simple digital LEGO set. The idea is that players will be able to customise buildings and vehicles while watching neighbourhoods respond to their decisions.

Me? I'm just itching to build a donut shop and watch lego people enjoy those sweet, sugary treats. 😂 I'm sure my son will agree.

No release date has been announced yet, but you can wishlist the game now. For more info about this awesome-looking game, you can visit the official Lego Skylines website.

Catch ya later.

Oh my goodness! Not only did Fields of Mistria get the 1.0 update yesterday, but Travellers Rest also got an update drop today. The devs have been teasing this update for weeks now, and I was excited to play.

This particular update adds the new area under the city, the Hollow. And... magic. Just go see Amos and a cut scene with a very suspicious character happens, leading you to discover the hidden way to the Hollow.

I've not done much with it yet, mostly due to my actual tavern duties as an inkeeper, but the idea is interesting. The area is curious and full of tiny details. I've performed some magic, bought some magic seeds and been conned 😂 (spoilers). This also adds some new magical recipes and items, with the infamous rat skewers back on the menu 😝

The update also brings a new end of day screen with some interesting stats. You can also see some customer reviews, which are always useful. Additionally, items now stack more than 99 so some of my chests are suddenly a lot more roomy.

Two days, two major updates, for two games I genuinely love. I'm actually spoilt for choice this week on what to play!

(P.S. if you want to read the official update announcement, you can find the Steam one here: https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/1139980/view/684135019607753343)

If you're excited to play Fields of Mistria 1.0 today, but can't load into the game after the update because of an Unrecoverable Error - specifically called Option::unwrap() on a None value - then here's how to fix it.

  1. Press Windows Key + R - this will open the Run dialogue box.
  2. Type (or copy and paste) %localappdata% and press Enter.
  3. Find the FieldsOfMistria folder among the list.
  4. Open it and make sure you copy your Saves folder to your desktop as a temporary backup, just in case.
  5. Delete everything else inside that FieldsOfMistria folder - (don't worry about doing this - mine was 3 .json files)
  6. Try booting the game again (this should let 1.0 generate clean configuration files).

This is the fix that worked for me, so hopefully it helps you too 😁 happy gaming!

I’ve been counting down the days to this one.

I haven’t played Fields of Mistria since January because I decided to wait for the full 1.0 update. It wasn’t easy to leave Mistria behind, but I wanted to return when I could continue the story properly and experience everything the full release has to offer.

That day has finally arrived. After two years in Early Access, Fields of Mistria launches into version 1.0 today, 5 August 2026.

The cosy farming and life sim first arrived in Early Access in August 2024, inviting players to restore a village damaged by an earthquake while building a farm, making friends and investigating the strange magic flowing through the land.

Its full release brings some of the game’s most eagerly awaited features, including:

  • Ten-heart events for romanceable villagers
  • Proposals, weddings, marriage and children
  • New dungeon quests and rewards
  • A complete town restoration storyline
  • A higher Renown level cap
  • More requests, museum collections and skill perks
  • New furniture, cosmetics and mount appearances
  • Steam achievements
  • Beta translations in seven additional languages

Existing saves will carry over, so I won’t need to abandon the farm and villagers I left behind in January. All the new content will be available regardless of how far players have already progressed.

Fields of Mistria quickly became one of my favourite cosy games when I first played it. The villagers feel lively, the world is full of warmth and the story gives you more to work towards than simply growing the next season’s crops. Stepping away for seven months has only made me more excited to go back.

The 1.0 update is expected to arrive at around 5pm UK time today. I’ll be returning to my old save, rediscovering where I left everything and almost certainly wondering what on earth I was doing 😂.

Fields of Mistria is currently available for Windows PC through Steam and is Steam Deck compatible. Console versions haven’t been announced yet, although NPC Studio says it may consider ports after completing the PC release.

If you’ve also been waiting for the full release, today is finally the day to return to Mistria.
